OUR STRETCH PHILOSOPHY
Therapeutic stretching has ancient origins in Thai yoga massage, which uses gentle stretching techniques to relax the whole body. It originated in India between 2500-7000 years ago to assist monks to recover from sitting in the meditative lotus position for many hours.
In more modern times it has been used as a therapy that was only available for high level professional athletes during their fitness training.
Today, assisted stretch therapy is an emerging new health and wellness option for everyone. Trained therapists are usually health professionals or have a background in in kinesiology, massage or physiotherapy, as this practice requires an advanced understanding of anatomy and physiology.
Stretch and Soothe draws from scientific methodology of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation stretching, as well as its established techniques from its ancient philosophical roots.
